How to Create a Sub-Domain and Point it to an IP
The process of creating a sub-domain may vary depending on how you’ve got your domain set up.
Please note there are two ways in-which a sub-domain is setup, please read the titles are select the right one for you.
1.If your Website is hosted using an All-In-One solution with cPanel access.
Please note as each service has a different user-interface, these steps may vary slightly.

- Sign in to your cPanel portal for your Hosting Service.
- Select your Domain/Website.
- Select ‘Subdomains’ under the Domain.
- Create a Sub-domain in your public_html folder.
- Select the ‘Create’ button.
- Next, Navigate to the cPanel.
- Select the ‘Zone Editor’.
- Beside the Domain, click the ‘+ A Record’ button.
- a. Fill in the Name as the (newly created sub-domain) and Address as the IP to which the Sub-domain should be pointed to (Eg: 209.59.190.88).
- Click the ‘Add an A Record’ button to save your settings.
2.If you’ve purchased your domain from a registrar like GoDaddy, NameCheap, etc. and have the domain pointed to your hosting service.
Please note as each service has a different user-interface, these steps may vary slightly.
- Sign in to your domain registrar of choice (GoDaddy, NameCheap, etc.)
- Select your domain name.
- Select the domain setting.
- Select Advanced DNS Settings.
- Under ‘Records’, select ‘Add new record’.
- In the ‘Type’ dropdown, select “A”.
- Complete the required fields:
- Host: The name of the sub-domain. Eg: navotar.com
- Points to: The IP address the domain should point to. Eg: 59.190.88
- TTL: How long the server should cache the information. Eg: 1 hour.
- Select ‘Save’ to save your record.
